Business Requirements
The RFQ (Private Invite) and Live Bid (Public Invite) module is designed to facilitate efficient, cost-effective transactions between buyers and sellers of bulk ingredients through both controlled and open marketplace interactions. The RFQ functionality enables buyers to privately invite selected sellers to submit competitive bids, ensuring greater control over supplier selection, pricing, and quality requirements. The Live Bid functionality allows sellers to publicly list available inventory—particularly excess or time-sensitive stock—so that buyers can discover and purchase at competitive, market-driven prices. The system must support real-time bid submission, clear visibility into bid status, and streamlined communication between participants. Additionally, the module should optimize inventory turnover for sellers while improving sourcing efficiency and cost savings for buyers, ultimately driving increased platform engagement and transaction volume.
Impact
Launching in Q3 2026, this module is expected to drive increased transaction volume by unlocking more dynamic and competitive pricing interactions between buyers and sellers. It will improve seller retention and inventory turnover by providing a dedicated channel to move excess or time-sensitive stock more efficiently. Additionally, the feature strengthens the platform’s value proposition by positioning it as a more responsive, market-driven marketplace, ultimately contributing to revenue growth and higher user engagement.
Problem
Buyers and sellers in the bulk ingredients marketplace currently face inefficiencies in price discovery, inventory movement, and supplier-buyer matching, leading to missed opportunities and suboptimal transactions. Buyers lack a streamlined way to solicit competitive bids from trusted suppliers, while sellers have limited channels to quickly offload excess or time-sensitive inventory without sacrificing margins. This results in slower deal cycles, higher costs, and increased waste across the ecosystem. A dedicated RFQ and Live Bid module addresses these gaps by enabling more dynamic, transparent, and timely interactions, ultimately improving efficiency and outcomes for both sides of the marketplace.
Research
UX/UI research for this module focused on understanding how buyers and sellers currently navigate sourcing, pricing, and inventory challenges within the platform. Through user interviews and behavioral data analysis, we identified key pain points around lack of pricing transparency, slow negotiation cycles, and difficulty in discovering relevant inventory. We also studied competitor marketplaces and auction-based systems to benchmark best practices in bid visibility, urgency cues, and trust signals. Usability testing informed critical design decisions, such as simplifying bid submission flows, clarifying status states, and reducing friction in communication between parties. These insights ensured the final experience is intuitive, efficient, and aligned with real user needs while supporting faster decision-making and engagement.

Solution
The solution introduces an integrated RFQ (Private Invite) and Live Bid (Public Invite) module that streamlines how buyers and sellers interact within the marketplace. Buyers can easily create and send RFQs to selected suppliers, enabling structured, competitive bidding with clear requirements and timelines. Sellers are given a dedicated interface to post live bids for excess or time-sensitive inventory, increasing visibility and accelerating sales opportunities. The system provides real-time updates, transparent bid tracking, and simplified communication to reduce friction throughout the transaction process. Together, these features create a more dynamic, efficient, and responsive marketplace that drives better pricing outcomes and faster deal cycles.
